Wednesday October 12th 12.30am
ESPN
America
Starting
Pitchers
Texas: Lewis (15-10,
4.32 ERA)
Detroit: Fister (12-14,
2.99 ERA)
The
Tigers better get things together, fast. Last night’s loss is a body blow, but
if anyone can right the ship, it’s Fister, even after the first walkoff grand
slam in postseason history.
With
a 9-2 record and a 2.25 ERA overall since coming to the Tigers, Fister is 1-1
with a 3.68 ERA in two starts versus Texas and 4-0 with a 0.98 ERA in five home
starts.
Lewis
has been strong historically in the post-season (4-0 with a 1.67 ERA in five
postseason starts) but has been knocked about by Detroit this term, going 0-1
with a 15.95 ERA in two starts.
This
Texas lineup is hitting a collective .268 against Fister, and Detroit is
hitting .340 against Lewis.
The
Tigers are a bit skinny here, although I like them tonight. Given the numbers,
and that it’s Comerica Park and Jim Wolf is behind home plate, I’ll take a
small interest in the Overs.
The
gambling gods smiled on us at the weekend, so we’ll have a little fun on this
game.
It’s
not a big betting game, but Lewis has
been prone to the long ball this season (35 homers in the regular season, the
second most in baseball) and the Tigers have taken him deep four times in one
game. Let’s see if they can again.
Pick: Over 8.5 @1.91;
-110; 10/11
Pick: Detroit 1st
team to homer @ 2.55; 154; 17/11
