MLB - Milwaukee at St. Louis

Thursday October 13th 1am
ESPN America

Starting Pitchers
Milwaukee: Gallardo (17-10, 3.52 ERA)
St. Louis: Carpenter (11-9, 3.45 ERA)

I’m looking forward to this; after Greinke’s ripping of Carpenter, St. Louis are sure to be fired up for this one, and Milwaukee will throw everything at them ... well, someone will get hit.

The problem for the Brewers is the shift in momentum that has occurred after Pujols found his form with the bat – he lit up Game 2, and there was a collective sigh of relief on the Cards’ bench. I mentioned a few days ago they looked gassed; well they’ve caught their breath.

Gallardo has been hit hard by St Louis, going 1-3 with a 5.70 ERA in four starts against them this season, but he has been strong down the stretch and into the post-season, where he has a 0.86 ERA in 21 innings.

Carpenter was outstanding last time out, and went 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA in four starts against the Brewers this season.

The value looks like the totals here, and although both pitchers are in good form, this will be a tension filled encounter, and with the power in these lineups, a couple of mistakes could be expensive.

Sam Holbrook behind home may help; he has a 20-10 O/U line.

Pick: Over 7 @ 2.00; 100; Evens
